Hardy's Math-a-letes!

Do you have a "theme" for your classroom? Well, it seems to be one of the many stressful decisions to make before school starts! :) So, I went with neon colors and graffitti.  I tried out my spray painting skills, and this is what I came up with. This sign covers a lot of my back wall. My students have made several comments about how they like it. :)  Sigh...One decision down, thousands to go...

The First Step...

From the first day of school, my dad put this quote on top of his chalkboard.  It remained there til his last day of teaching.  This was his basic rule, but it was more than a rule.  It was a motto, a life-lesson and something to take with you outside the classroom.  Even after he passed away, we still have former students, from all 33 years of teaching, tell us the impact Dad and this quote had on them and how they will never forget them.  Besides teaching Math, I hope and pray I can teach my 7th graders more than just algebraic expressions and fractions.  I want my class to be more than just another class they have to "just get by and pass." I want to be more than just another teacher...so, I thought the first step was carrying on the tradition of the quote my favorite teacher had on his board and put it on mine.
